§ 1112-020. BOARD OF SUPERVISORS' AUTHORITY TO ERECT STOP SIGNS

  • (a)

    The board of supervisors by ordinance or resolution may order that one or more stop signs be erected as follows:

    (1)

    At any location on a county highway where a stop sign would enhance traffic safety.

    (2)

    At any location on a county highway so as to control traffic within an intersection.

    (b)

    Without limiting subsection (a), the board of supervisors by ordinance or resolution may designate:

    (1)

    Any county highway as a through highway and order that stop signs or other official traffic control devices be erected at entrances to it;

    (2)

    Any intersection under its jurisdiction as a stop intersection and order that stop signs or other official traffic control devices be erected at or near one or more entrances to it; and

    (3)

    Any railroad grade crossing on a county highway, other than a crossing controlled by automatic signals, gates, or other train-activated control devices, as a major crossing with a demonstrated need for stop signs, and order that stop signs be erected at it.
