If, by reason of the location of any house, tenement, or other place in which any
case of small-pox, cholera, yellow fever, scarlet fever, or any other contagious or
infectious disease exists, or for any other reason, the person affected with such
disease is not removed to the proper hospital or pest-house, then it shall be and
hereby is made the duty of the health officer or officers in charge of such case to
require that the person so affected with such disease shall be kept closely confined
in his house, room, or other place of abode for such length of time as may be deemed
necessary by the health officers in charge of the case.
